Alkaline Water can be produced by electrolytic processes or by the use of special natural minerals. Electrolytic systems are normally built into kitchens and split the water into alkaline and acid streams of water. Alkaline ionized water has 3 characteristics that give it its health promoting properties.
The ionized water is more alkaline than ordinary tap or bottled water with a much higher concentration of alkaline minerals such as potassium, calcium and magnesium. Typically alkaline ionized water has a pH between 8 and 10.
Alkaline ionized water has a negative oxidation/reduction value. Typical tap and bottled waters in the UK have ORP values of between 150 and 300mV (potential to oxidise). Alkaline ionized water has a negative ORP ranging between -50 and -250mV giving it its capability as an antioxidant. It is regarded by many experts as having a better antioxidant capability than vitamin C.
Alkaline ionized water is micro-clustered. Water exists as groups of water molecules weakly bonded together. Ionization results in these clusters being reduced to much smaller clusters making absorption into the body much more effective giving better hydration.
Because of its antioxidant properties alkaline ionized water is helpful for any disease which is caused by damaging free radicals, and excess body acidity. It is also very useful as an aid to weight loss. In fact in many instances obesity is marked by poor hydration.
