Drinking more water is on most people's to-do list. And no wonder: water is, after all, wholly necessary for survival and cellular homeostasis. It also aids in weight loss, digestive support and healthy skin. But some water may actually be doing you more harm than good.

Most tap water is full of toxins such as arsenic, fluoride and chlorine. There are more than 80 regulated contaminants in our tap water and some that are not regulated, including perchlorate, otherwise known as rocket fuel. A 2003 article published in Environmental Health Perspectives found that tap water may also be contaminated with pharmaceutical drugs.

You should be picky about the water you drink. Drinking properly filtered water is a great way to reduce the amount of toxins you are ingesting, while favouring mineral-rich alkaline water will increase your intake of alkaline minerals that promote natural detoxification.
