10 things to let go of in the New Year

The end of a year is a great time to reflect, to evaluate the ups and downs of the months that have passed, to celebrate your successes and accept your failures. It is beneficial to take time to analyse your strengths and weaknesses over the last twelve months, and take stock of what you have accumulated and what you have lost. There is an energy shift as a new year dawns, and people are inspired to reconsider their goals, and set objectives for the year to come to try enhance their overall life, and happiness.

Now is the time to be aware of the people and situations that are weighing you down, to shake off excess baggage and put down roots for the new days to come. The only way to make space to achieve new goals and enjoy fresh experiences is to let go of things that no longer serve you.

This list is a suggestion of things to help you to achieve a happier more fulfilling life, that starts with letting go of all your old emotional baggage or negative thought patterns before the new year comes, so that you can focus all of your energy on what you do want to achieve.

1. Let go of thinking you are in the wrong place

You are exactly where you should be right now. Everything that you have endured and enjoyed up to today has led precisely to this moment as intended.

2. Escape the negative mind trap

You are not your sad story. It is time to stop replaying the sombre negative tales from your past, let go so that you can begin a new chapter, and write a positive story of your future.

3. Release the idea that you always receive bad luck

Bad luck is only bad luck because you define it that way. Negative experiences are always temporary, and bring blessings, at least in the form of lessons that leave a lasting wisdom from which you can draw on in future.

To follow your dreams you need to be aware of what you long to achieve. Take small steps each day in line your heart’s true path and you will get where you need to be.
