10 things to let go of in the New Year
Now is the time to be aware of the people and situations that are weighing you down, to shake off excess baggage and put down roots for the new days to come. The only way to make space to achieve new goals and enjoy fresh experiences is to let go of things that no longer serve you.
This list is a suggestion of things to help you to achieve a happier more fulfilling life, that starts with letting go of all your old emotional baggage or negative thought patterns before the new year comes, so that you can focus all of your energy on what you do want to achieve.
1. Let go of thinking you are in the wrong place
You are exactly where you should be right now. Everything that you have endured and enjoyed up to today has led precisely to this moment as intended.
2. Escape the negative mind trap
You are not your sad story. It is time to stop replaying the sombre negative tales from your past, let go so that you can begin a new chapter, and write a positive story of your future.
3. Release the idea that you always receive bad luck
Bad luck is only bad luck because you define it that way. Negative experiences are always temporary, and bring blessings, at least in the form of lessons that leave a lasting wisdom from which you can draw on in future.
4. Let go of the need to see the full plan
Take a step and the next one will materialise. You may not be able to see the whole picture, and hence the path may be unclear to you. DO not let this stop you from starting, instead have faith that you will have what you need when the next step appears.
5. Let go of the idea that things will always go wrong
Things are always going to work out just fine. Decide to feel supported in your endeavours, and you will see that things will be right in the end.
6. Stop asking ‘Why me?’
Things can happen to any of us and any time. Rather than focusing on why you are suffering from misfortune at any moment, focus on what you can learn from a situation.
7. Release the reins
Drop your need for control. You will get where you need to be, even if it does not appear to be what you want on the surface.
8. Stop believing you are defined by your weaknesses
Mistakes are an inevitable part of learning, which everyone makes. These are opportunities for growth and are valuable because they help us appreciate when things go according to plan.
9. Release the need for acceptance
You do not have to prove anything to anyone! Being right is an objective concept, at any moment there are numerous right ways of seeing a situation. Choose to focus love on yourself, and you will not need to look to others to affirm you constantly.
10. Stop thinking it is too late
To follow your dreams you need to be aware of what you long to achieve. Take small steps each day in line your heart’s true path and you will get where you need to be.
From the team at Water for Health we would like to take the time to wish you a new year that is filled with love, great health and plenty of happiness!
