pH Test Strips provide a simple way to measure the pH of your saliva or urine, giving you an indication of your body's acid-alkaline balance. These dual-pad strips are calibrated from pH 4.5 to pH 9.0 and deliver results within 10 seconds.

They're more accurate than standard pH papers found at pharmacies and easy to read thanks to their dual-pad layout.

Each pack contains 100 pH test strips for convenient ongoing monitoring. Note: these strips are designed specifically for testing saliva or urine, not water. For testing water pH, use our Water pH Test Kit with Colourmetric Reagent instead.

Who are Ph tester strips for:

Suitable for anyone interested in tracking their body's acid-alkaline balance, particularly those making diet and lifestyle modifications and wanting to monitor changes over time. Useful for understanding how your body is maintaining its internal pH through what it eliminates or retains.

Key Benefits of pH Test Strips:

  • Calibrated from pH 4.5 to pH 9.0 for body pH testing
  • Results within 10 seconds
  • Dual-pad layout for easy reading
  • More accurate than standard pharmacy pH papers
  • 100 strips per pack for regular monitoring
  • Designed specifically for saliva or urine testing.

How do I use pH Testing strips?

Testing saliva pH:

Saliva testing gives you a reflection of your body's alkaline mineral reserves and extra-cellular fluid balance. The optimal pH of saliva is 6.5 to 7.0. A reading lower than 6.5 indicates insufficient alkaline reserves.

To test accurately, wet the pH test strip with saliva approximately 2 hours after a meal, then match it against the colour chart. After meals, saliva should rise to 7.8 or higher. If there's no increase, it may suggest a deficiency in alkaline minerals, particularly calcium and magnesium. Do not put test strip in mouth. Instead put some saliva on a spoon and use this for the test.

Testing urine pH

Urine pH indicates how well your body is working to maintain proper blood pH. Your kidneys filter out the buffer salts of pH regulation, so urine samples provide insight into what your body is eliminating to maintain balance.

Urine pH can vary from pH 4.0 to pH 9.0, though the ideal range is between 6.5 and 7.0. Blood pH should be 7.36, and your urine pH gives an estimate based on what your body is eliminating to maintain that blood pH.

The most accurate time to check urine pH is first thing in the morning. Take readings from both the first and second urination and average these figures for the most reliable indication.

Why dual-pad strips matter

The dual-pad layout makes these strips easier to read than single-pad alternatives. You get clearer colour differentiation, which means more accurate readings and less guesswork when matching against the colour chart.

Regular monitoring

With 100 strips per pack, you have enough for regular monitoring over time. This lets you track changes as you adjust your diet and lifestyle, giving you feedback on whether your modifications are moving you towards better acid-alkaline balance.

Not for water testing

These pH test strips are optimised for measuring body pH through saliva or urine. They're not suitable for testing water pH. The chemistry and calibration differ between body fluid testing and water testing. If you need to test drinking water, use our Water pH Test Kit with Colourmetric Reagent, which is specifically designed for accurate water pH measurement.

For saliva testing:

  1. Wait approximately 5 minutes after eating
  2. Wet the pH test strip with saliva
  3. Wait 10 seconds for the colour to develop
  4. Match the colour against the chart provided
  5. Record your reading
  6. Then 2 hours later retest your saliva to see how much your pH has dropped back.

Optimal saliva pH is 6.5 to 7.0. After meals, it should rise to 7.8 or higher. After 2 hours it should ideally be no lower than pH 6.5.

For urine testing:

  1. Test first thing in the morning for most accurate results
  2. Dip the strip in your urine sample
  3. Wait 10 seconds for the colour to develop
  4. Match the colour against the chart provided
  5. Take readings from both first and second urination
  6. Average the two figures for your daily reading.

Ideal urine pH range is 6.5 to 7.0.

Store strips in a cool, dry place with the container tightly sealed to maintain accuracy.

Q: What's the difference between testing saliva and urine?
A: Saliva pH reflects your alkaline mineral reserves and extra-cellular fluid balance. Urine pH shows how your body is working to maintain blood pH through what it eliminates. Both provide useful information about your acid-alkaline balance from different perspectives.

Q: When is the best time to test?
A: For saliva, test approximately 5 minutes after finishing eating then again 2 hours later. For urine, first thing in the morning provides the most accurate reading. Take two urine samples (first and second urination) and average them.

Q: Can I use these strips to test water?
A: No. These strips are specifically optimised for testing body pH through saliva or urine. For water testing, use our Water pH Test Kit with Colourmetric Reagent, which is designed for accurate water pH measurement.

Q: What's a healthy pH reading?
A: For saliva, optimal pH is 6.5 to 7.0, rising to 7.8 or higher after meals. For urine, the ideal range is 6.5 to 7.0. Blood pH should be around 7.36, and your body works to maintain this through what it eliminates in urine.

Q: How accurate are these strips?
A: These strips are more accurate than standard pH papers found at pharmacies, thanks to their dual-pad layout and specific calibration for body pH testing. They provide reliable readings within 10 seconds.

Q: How should I store the strips?
A: Keep them in a cool, dry place with the container tightly sealed. Moisture can affect accuracy, so proper storage is important.

Q: How many times can I test with one pack?
A: Each pack contains 100 strips, providing enough for regular monitoring over several weeks or months, depending on how frequently you test.
